I can't get wired internet access ANYWHERE, but wireless works fine?
It started a while ago, the schools internet network in my dorm went down for a while. After 2 weeks, I could connect to the wireless networks but not the actual hard line. It keeps showing up as an Unidentified Network, with No Internet Access. I thought it was just another school issue and didn't think much of it.Then, I went home and tried to connect to our wired connection. I got the same issue, but if I connected via wireless I was fine. Same thing over at a friends house, wi fi works but any hard line still comes up as Unnamed with no internet access. The only wi fi networks that would be strong enough for me to connect to in the dorm room would be from someone else on this floor, which means whoevers broadcasting has a working hard connection, so I dont think it's a school issue. Whats going on?I have a Toshiba Satellite, BIOS recently flashed to 1.10 InsydeH2O , PCIe FE Family controller driver 7.12.1218.2009RTL8191SE wireless 802.11n NIC driver 2011.0.204.2010Everythings up to date...

Would it be the wireless router that's broken in this scenario?
We have 3 computers in my house, 1 desktop and 2 laptops. We have DSL internet, which is hooked up to the desktop, which has a wireless router attached so that the internet can be accessed on the 2 laptops, which is what always worked.Yesterday the internet stopped working on the 2 laptops, but is still working on this computer the desktop . The 2 laptops can both see that there is the default wireless option so the router is working somehow but neither will connect to the internet anymore. That would mean it would have to be the router was what was broken, right? I hope that makes sense.
Can a wireless LAN card receive radio or TV or even mobile phone signals?
Using wireless router in dorm room?
Hi, I have what I believe is a wireless router. It is a Belkin model. I used to use it at home. It would plug into my parents' PC modem and I guess convert the signal to wireless? This enabled me to use my laptop from all around the house, while they still used their hardwired connection. My question is whether I can use this router to set up a wireless connection in my dorm room. My roommate and I are currently using internet cords plugged into a box type thing don't know they proper term, sorry to access the internet. So yeah, I was just wondering if you think, from my unfortunately vague and probably confusing description, that I could use this router to set up a wireless connection. Note I know that other girls on my floor have set up wireless connections in their room. And no, my school does not have already a uniform wireless access, because we're lame. If you think that this is possible to do, how should I set it up? At home, one cord goes from the Belkin into an outlet, one internet cord goes from the Belkin into the modem, and another internet cord goes from the modem into the PC computer. How should I set this up, using only the router and the box type thing we have in our room?Thankssssss D
