My os is windows xp and the windows messenger was installed default. How can I save chat history with this default im?

I know I can turn that notification sound on or off when you receive a message, but can it be customized further?I have a lot of people on msn bugging me over menial things, and would rather not hear that beeping sound in the middle of a game.However, there are certain people who I do want to minimize my game for.Is there any way I can make messenger only notify me about certain friends?If not, is there a different program I could use that does have this feature?

This one looks very ancient to me and whenever I try to download the new one via windowslive.com desktop messenger it says I have to download the pack again and man, its 105 MB is huge and i already have it. Slight Problem With My Webcam && Windows Messenger, Please Help!?
Right, my laptop had to be sent away to be repaired after the hard drive went. Obviously i had to redownload Windows Live Messenger. It was working fine until i tried to invite someone onto webcam. Normally when you click on the icon it will go straight to an invite but mine for some reason automatically video calls someone. Ovi this is a problem because you can only go on a vid call with one person. I looked on my audio and video set up to see if anything was wrong, but i cnt find anything. Does anyone know how i can fix my cam so it just goes str8 to an invite for WB. Please help x

Why does Windows Messenger (MSN) always have 2 links on the taskbar of Windows 7?
For example, in windows 7 if you have three firefox pages open, 3 windows would appear when your mouse hovered ver the firefox icon. well when i hover my mouse over my msn icon, it shows 2 pages, but im not even talking to anyone and all i have open is the main msn page.
