What kind of netbook do you have? Do you have your restore disk? Many use ghost to do their recovery and a windows pe based boot image to do the restore, these restore disks can be converted to usb disks, the normal windows install does not support usb install on its own. You would need a modify the install Here is a detailed guide on how to do it: eeeguides.com/ 2007/ 11/ installing-windows-xp-from-usb-thumb.html |

Well, you would have to make the USB bootable or else you get the ISO on your netbook and run it from there usually if you have HP or something they give you a file you put in your flash drive to reinstall. |

Well first thing you would need to do is to put windows xp onto your flash drive (this in itself would be a completely different walk through if you dont know how to do that) second is put it into your computer then, power up/ restart your computer, at the BIOS screen spam f8 (or whatever would bring up your boot menu) and then select your thumb drive and press enter. as for the size, im pretty sure xp could fit on a CD so i guess anything above 700mgb? then everything should be pretty straight forward with windows telling you what to do and whatnot. sorry if i didnt really answer this one all that well. im about to go to bed :/ good luck! |

I'd suggest getting a usb cd-rom/ dvd drive. you're going to need it sooner or later with a netbook. newegg.com/ Product/ Product.aspx?Item= N82E16827136166 &cm_re= usb_cd_drive-_-27-136-166-_-Product |

You need to use diskpart.exe Next, type diskpart and then type list disk. You should now see a screen with all the drives attached to your system. Make a note of which drive the USB drive is by which number is next to it as illustrated in the diagram below. For this article my flash drive is Disk 1. Next type in Select Disk 1 replace disk 1 with the number of your drive. Next, type in Clean. This removes any hidden sectors as well as partitions from the drive. Next, type in Create Partition Primary. This will create a primary partition on the flash drive with default options. Next, type in Select Partition 1 Next, type in Active This makes the partition active and valid. Next, type in Format FS= fat32 quick. Next, type in Assign this will give the drive a label and assign the next available drive letter to the drive. In my case the next available letter was F. Next, type exit to close the diskpart utility. |
