How to port more bandwidth to my computer from the router?
As the title says, is there an option in the 192.168.X.X configuration where I can send more bandwidth to a certain computer's ip address. i have a wireless linksys wrt54g2. the only reason i ask if because my sister constantly downloads tons of files which makes my internet slow. i heard about port forwarding but i hear you need to flash the firmware of the router and i dont want to mess with that since 3 computers depend on the router.how do i play around with dhcpmy internet caps out at 1.5 megabits lol i know thats sad but it was a promotional price and the standard up to 10 megabits is a bit pricey
What is the problem with my router?
When I bought my laptop I bought a Netgear Wireless G router so I could connect wireless all over my one bedroom unit and for my Tivo connection. I have a desktop and lately a lot of times when I start my PC and try to connect to the internet I can't, but if I take the router and disconnect it and just plug the modem straight into the tower, I can connect. I have had the router for about four years. Do I need a new router?

Does the way i use my router affect speed?
For that past two years we have been connecting both our computers and the occasional guest computer to the same router but to connect to the internet each computer logs in using the same username and password. After renewing our contract last week and making some minor changes but keeping the speed the same , i found that we were only able to connect one computer at the same time using this method. I have now changed it so that the login is through the router settings and now all we have to do to go online is connect to the router and input the passphrase. I'm just wondering if this method is slower than the first method i described. I've only been online a few minutes testing both computers but it seems that some pages load slower than they did before.

Why does my computer keep detecting my router as a new one?
Everyday my computer that my router is connected to detects my Linksys WRT54G router as a new one and I have to reconfigure it. Also when I configure the router it never detects internet from my modem. When I configure it the internet works but when I try to configure it, it just acts as though I have no internet at all. Do I need a new router since its like 3 years old now?I go to configure the router on the computer the router is wired to. I try to configure it and it always says " no internet connection found" and it wants me to turn off the modem for 30 seconds and turn it back on which I do . Eventually it just never picks up the internet and it gives up but the configuration is finished and the router works again. The weird part is after the configuration of the router where it failed to connect to internet, the internet works again The router says theres no internet but I am wireless on my other computer and I have great internet connection.

My internet is slower than usual, do I need a new router?
Can routers make your internet faster? Btw, this isn't just on my computer, even on xbl the connection only has 3 bars at the most MW2 . At most times, it goes to one bar. So this has nothing to do with my computer I am very sure. This morning I was home alone, and popped open the laptop, and watched some youtube, but I would constantly have to pause the videos and wait for them to load, or skip one second ahead for it to work. This has happened before, but fairly rarely, and my internet has been quite slow all day. I can't even open tabs quickly anymore, or even search in google I have to type in the word, and wait for it to load. Any help appreciated
Have to restart my TP Link ADSL modem/router every day because the internet connection cuts off.Any Ideas why?
Once I restart it it works well for a while but then after a few hours i have to restart it again. Is there a setting or something that would be causing this?
Question about Wireless Routers and Wireless Internet?
If I got a wireless router then could I go onto the internet anywhere in my house with a laptop? Could I also use it for video games like how it says you can use Wi Fi? Also I'm wondering if it costs you any extra monthly or yearly fees for using a router for wireless internet if it works like that ? Thanks for all the answers and I hope this makes sense
