Mysql_insert 5 or 6 digit year on date field?

Question: Mysql_insert 5 or 6 digit year on date field?

Suppose, we are enter 10000 BC year date on mysql db. How to insert this year on mysql.

Just set the field type as 'varchar()' instead of 'date'.

If you want to use mysql date formats, you can't. from the view of mysql, time starts on 01-01-1970. to use dates before, you don't have any other option then to use a numeric field to store the date.
