Simply install it and tell windows to use it as your documetns folder. you wil be asked if you want to move all other files/ folders in the current "my documetns " folder. you may need to tell the bios that the new drive isn't the os drive as some start new drives first instead of the original drive. |

Kumar, is it an external HDD or have you replaced the HDD in yr PC? If it's external you will need to put it into an 'enclosure' & then it can be used for back or or additional space on yr PC, if it's a new HDD that's fitted to yr PC you should of backed all yr data onto something so you can re-install on the new one. Perhaps add a little more detail & we can clarify what you need to do ok? |

Oh boy not as simple as said by other poster. if its an internal drive you will have to make it a slave drive, then you can format it while in windows.you dont need to have windows or a operating system on it to use for storage.you can also partition it in windows.if its an external drive just plug it in and start putting your files on it after windows installs drivers for it. |

Personally when I got my new hard drive I just put in the windows format disc and ran it at boot up. Then instead of installing windows, I just formatted and partitioned the new hard drive. Then when you boot it up it should show up in my computer. Hope that helps. |

Do you have any windows installed on any other hard disk? If yes, follow these steps- 1)Right click on my computer and click on manage. 2)Click on disk management from the left pane. 3)You will see your hard disk's raw space in the right side. Right click on it and click create partition. The rest I hope you can do by yourself. If you don't have an operating system installed then follow these steps- 1)Keep pressing 'F8' when the system is starting to see the boot from menu.(It can also be any other key. Check your mother board's manual.) 2)Insert your windows CD and select boot from CD 3)Select new installation and it will take you to a place where you can create partitions. |
