Question: How to recover data from a hard disk that is not detected during bios?
(Posted by: vedu on 2010-03-08 06:11:13)
My hard disk crashed and is not detected during bios. I tried to repair using vista, also took it out and refitted it several times, but it simply doesn't work. Now i've replaced it, but there are some important photos in it I want to recover. Will connecting the crashed disk with an external case help? Or is paying the local techie the only solution? I already spent so much for the new hard disk, I dont want to spend more unless there's no other way. Somebody help please. Thanking in advance. |

Since your HDD is no longer detected in BIOS, i doubt it will work when you plug it in as an external drive, safest bet would be taking it to your local techie and have them recover the files from it |

Connecting to an external case might help. Its worth trying if you already have one. Apart from that I don't think the local techie could help. You need specialised equipment for that kind of thing. |

I know there are online services that you can use for back up you can also buy flash drives or backup external hard drives. there's a 500 gig external on e-bay deals now. cgi.ebay.com/ ws/ eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem &item= 230445771993 That's for future problems as for the hard drive there are programs you can use to transfer the stuff over. you said you fit it several times that would mean your using a laptop making it harder to transfer stuff because there nothing for you to put your old hard drive in to transfer from so your going to have to take it to a tech and have them do it for you you can buy sata cables or ide which ever you use and make your hdd hard drive the primary and the other the sec if its not a snap in hard drive its possible but hard to do. a tech will charge you alot of money to transfer and if you take it to a tech they can tell you if your old one is fried for free that way you don't buy some stuff for no reason. I hope i helped if you have any other questions or want to do it yourself feel free to ask i have no life and would be happy to help |
