My school has a firewall, any way around it?

Question: My school has a firewall, any way around it?

(Posted by: alex h on 2010-03-05 10:03:37)

My school has wireless internet and has most of the "fun " sites blocked due to educational purposes. Is there any way to break the firewall?

My tax dollars are paying for you to be there. Also, that would be illegal. Heaven forbid I ever find out where you live. NO ONE wastes my money.

Nope. They blocked these for a reason, and the protection code is well hidden. If you were to even trying to do this, you could be prosecuted...

There are ways to get around the firewall. After explaining it to a lot of other people I began to see that it is really complicated and no wants to deal with it. So I will just say that unless you are very technically skilled then your not going to be able to follow. The way around the firewall is called DNS Tunneling. There is a very simple way of doing it. Go to dyndns.com and sign up for a free account. Then you will need to set up a linux machine ( I choose this OS because it's free and very flexible) I use Ubuntu Karmic. You will need to set up somethings and you will need your own laptop so that you can install Ubuntu on it also.( I am assuming that your going to be using the schools laptop which is why you got the previous comment). You will then need to me@localhost:~$sudo apt-get install iodine. This will down load the iodine program to your box. You will then need to go to the iodine website to see who to configure it. dev.kryo.se/ iodine/ wiki/ HowtoSetup. This will help with the server side and client side. as far as your domain that is up to you. What you will also need to do is point your home router to your domain or in this case your dyndns domain. This will help you with your tunneling and is a short cut in case you don't want to pay for an entire year for a domain name. hack responsibly and have fun.
