How can we provide seamless failover for our webserver in case we lose one Internet connection?
We would like to make sure our websites are still functional if our Internet connection goes down. If we have a second Internet connection, and it is set as the secondary DNS address, will it fail over properly to the second connection? I was told by an expert that it won't work.If this doesn't work, how is it done? We have a dual NIC cards and are running Windows Server 2003.

Server failover strategies?
I have three servers, one intranet, one internet, and another I want to use for failover for both. What are some failover strategies I might look into? I want the backup server to go live automatically when either the intranet or internet server goes down. I don't know much about this right now, but I'm willing to read up and research, so links are much appreciated too. Thanks

Network - WAN Load Balancing with Failover?
I am stuck with something that I need to figure out how to use as someone spent money in my absense without consulting me beforehand. We have 1 ISP, but two WAN connections. Each connection has its own bandwidth limit and rating. This was setup because one person on our primary WAN trunk, when we had just 1 outgoing connection, used up all of the bandwidth on that trunk and brought our internet at our servers to a complete halt. This was not on our LAN.Right now we have 1 connection that is on failover to the 2nd. This allows us to only use 1 connection's bandwidth at a time.We need a solution that will allow us to failover, but at the same time, load balance between the two WAN ports. This way we double our bandwidth back to what it was, as when the person dropped this in, they didn't add a second line, they split what we had into 2 lines.... This is where my networking knowledge stops, I am not sure the best way to go about this. What is the correct way to do this? All we have at the moment for routing, which is not a router, just a firewall with limited routing capabilities, is a Sonicwall TZ170 with OS Enhanced. Correct, just 1 subnet on the inside, 1 subnet on the outside, using NAT to translate from public to private.I do not have autorization to spend money on consulting from the CEO and he will not cut the funds loose for it. I'm asking this question lots of places, including here to see if I get any type of information that could point me in the correct direction.I have been authorized for the purchase of 1 networking device, under $1500USD.
Linksys RV016 FAILOVER NOT LOAD BALANCE?
OK. I have a RV016 at a remote site. Currently WAN1 is all that is in use. I have a VLAN back to the main site. This is via a Wimax connection and it works well. There is an unused T1 at this location and I want it to be a failover. I dont really care if people at the main site can access the remote site when the main connection is down. What is imperative is that the remote site can access the Internet and network resources at the main site. My proposed solution is a site to site VPN with a Sonicwall from the T1 to the main site. This is connected and works but if I connect this to the Rv016 it is hell bent on load balancing which I do not want. It is causing packet loss as well. What I want it the RV016 to ignore WAN2 unless WAN1 dies. I also want it to go back to WAN1 when WAN1 comes back to life without me having to tell it to. I want to accomplish this with no action on the part of the user or myself. Can the RV016 do straight FO no LB. How do I config it like this?
