How do i find my external hard drive on linux mint.?


How can i get videos off of my external hard drive that is dying?
i have had an external hard drive for 2 years and it will still show up on my computer but when i get into it and try to view videos it says not responding then i have to unplug it and plug it back in. i try to copy the video to the c drive and it will show that it is copying then eventually after a while say " not responding." i was wondering if there is any tricks to getting the videos of it off because every time i try to cut and paste them onto the c drive it freezes and i have to unplug it.

Fix Seagate 1tb external hard drive?
plugged in the usb cable into the female port on the external drive, and it just popped in. haven't dropped it, haven't misused it, just need to back up my computer. When i noticed it wasn't reading i checked the connection, realized the usb port was lost within the drive. Looked at the warranty, called the number, guess it isn't covered. popped open the machine and tried multiple attempts to get it to read just to get a few pictures, videos, and music files off. No luck.my question is, is there a way to fix the usb port permanently, or at least temporarily?if this isn't possible, where is a place to get replacement parts. I could just the circuit board the contains the port, the info i can find on the board is2GEXKZMQ under a bar code, 090616 printed on the board and below this, also printed on the board, Cedar USB 1607 Rev. 1.0if a replacement part can't be purchased or installed then best way to just replace the casing and keep the hard drive? the drive is just fine, it's just the usb port. hate to have to replace it all and lose my info if i can just connect my computer to the hard drive itself without the need of the broken components.thanks for any help.

HP SimpleSave external hard drive?
Looking at the site, i can pick one a 1.5Tb from best buy for $150. My only potential issue is that it uses some sort of auto backup feature i wouldn't want to use, I'm not a fan of hp's software and its associated bloat . Could i just format it and use it normally? Also anyone had any issues with one of these? Thanks.

Hi, I have a dvd player that has a USB port, if I put a film onto a memory stick then dvd player will play it...so, we decided to buy an external hard drive 500Gb with the idea that we can put films on it and play them through the dvd. However, the dvd does not recognise the hard drive, it says 'un supported USB' does anyone know how we can overcome this, is there a software upgrade we can get for the dvd? the dvd is a toshiba btw. a few years ago we had a 4Gb SD card that our old computer didn't recognise although it recognised smaller ones...we are wondering if this is suffering from the same problem and the hard drive is just too large for the dvd. On windows 7, i do not get the option to save programs to my external hard drive. what can i do?
It simply says that it is saving to my C drive, not giving me other options. is this normal? i want to save programs such as skype onto the external hard drive

External hard drive and iTunes?
I have a seagate external hard drive which i store all of my photos and music on. even though I have purchased the music through iTunes i have stored it on the external hard drive. The trouble is when I try to play anything in iTunes it comes up with can not locate file, even if i plug the hard drive in first before opening iTunes. Even when i plug my iPod in to update music it keeps coming up cant locate file.Does anyone know how I can rectify this problem, or is my only answer storing all music on my pc's hard drive.help would be very much appreciated. PS i emailed apple but have heard nothing back.thanks
