I want to plug multiple ethernet cables into a single outlet.?
Would an ethernet hub do what I am looking for? In my university room, there is a single ethernet outlet on the wall, and I want to share the internet connection between a desktop, laptop, netbook and ps3, without having to choose which one gets to be online?I know you can get ethernet splitter cables, that divide it essentially in 2 , but obviously I need 4.
If i unplug ethernet cable from PC question?
So i have a wireless home network right now. I moved to a new place so i have this new modem hooked up to my router. In my old one i was able to unplug the PC from the router and use the built in wireless. Now it seems if i do that the whole internet shuts down then i have to plug it back in and reset everything. is there a way to prevent that? No, i mean that i already have a wireless network setup, but im saying is that the living room computer is connected to the router, now if i disconnect this cable the laptop, xbox 360, etc lose connection
In a LAN, why would ethernet connections to two switches be better than wireless to one router?
Regardless of security and quantity of switch sockets.e.g 15 computers, two switches and a router. I have a feeling that this is to do with creating an extra route for data to transfer to?
If I connect to my router via ethernet AND wi-fi, will the speed increase?
To the same router. I was wondering if having an additional mode of data transport might help with multiple connection DL's. For instance, Bit Torrent.

Can you use an ethernet splitter in conjunction with a power line ethernet adapter?
My parents have their router in their home office and the most convenient solution for them was to use a power line adapter surge protector that has an ethernet port, essentially in order to run ethernet to the DishTV DVR, which requires access to the internet. They recently got a Wii, and asked for my help putting it on the internet. Rather than dropping the money on a wireless router, I wanted to use a splitter at both ends If you're going to say you can't split ethernet like a phone line, then this question is out of your league, and please don't answer . My question is essentially whether the powerline adapter transfers information for all 8 wires of ethernet or only the 4 that are normally used. I realize that the powerline adapter only transfers at 14 mbps, so I'm not concerned about it only being 10baseT for both connections. Please do not answer that I need to buy a switch hub. I want to know if a splitter will work over powerlines or not. And yes, there is an extra port on the router to make the splitter work. Just don't want to drop the 25 bucks on the set of splitters to find out that they are useless for this setup. Thanks It is pretty rigged. It is super rigged. However, the power line adapters are already in use. The splitters alone would be cheaper than the wireless router, which was the purpose for the question. I didn't realize the Wii needed an adapter as well, which pushes the price point toward simply not being worth the hassle with the jury rigged solution I suggested. Thank you both for your answers.
