Can I hook up a wireless router to an ethernet connection?
So my university has wireless however, I live in the dorm apartment furthest away from campus. It's an upper classman " dorm" that is basically like an apartment. Therefore, we can not get the wireless connection. The schools has ethernet ports in each apartment room that allow us to connect to the internet via the ethernet cord.I am wondering, is there any way to plug a wireless router into that ethernet plug and make my apartment wireless with a password? I am thinking of buying one to try it out, or is that going to be impossible?

Wireless connection works, but network cable unplugged without ethernet cable?
Alright, well.In the house, I use a Linksys router and a i'm bundling with the Modem I have. There is a desktop computer Windows 7 in the basement. Runs wireless.A laptop in the living room floor above and it also runs wireless. We usually had, the power cord and the ethernet in the router. Then, the other ethernet side in the modem, with the power telephone cord in it as well.Everything was going completely fine, we had wireless and the connection was great, untill randomely, and completely random, nothing was touched or messed with, the connection just runs out.The router modem computers are all new, and the router was tested by a linksys expert to be fine. The only way we can get connection, is by moving the Ethernet cable from the router, and putting it into the Laptop itself. But, the desktop never works. Desktop is used most and cant be moved upstairs When the Ethernet is plugged into the laptop, the network connection is Excellent and the Local area connection is connected firewalled. When we take it out and put into the router, we lose the local area connection and it says that there is a local area network cable unplugged, but the network is still excellent strength. But, we don't get internet connection.Everything is turned on Automatic ive seen that suggested on tons of forums That isn't the problem. I've tried everything, i've tried resetting the modem, the router, all that scripted cox communication bull crap that only helps the network connection itself, which is fine. Please someone help, i'm sorry for this being so long, but I wanted to make it as clear as possible so i didn't get the same crappy answers as everyone else on other forums.PLEASE SOMEONE HELP. I will register, vote for you, do whatever answering this and helping benefits u.

I have limited/no connection when I connect my router to ethernet hub then to my desktop, help?
My internet router, hub with 12 ethernet slots, and desktop are all working fine so what could be the problem? All of the ethernet cables are connected right. Apparently, the router doesnt detect another ethernet connection but it is successfully interacting with the hub as shown on the hub. But the connection is not successful from the hub to the desktop. From the desktop, it says that it has limited no connection to the internet. The point of all these connections is that i can use the internet from the router via the hub to my desktop. So from what i said, the problem comes from the desktop since it cant connect right with the hub but what can i do to fix this?

Trouble connecting to internet through ethernet hub?
basically i have a landline that goes into my room, and plugs into a 4 port ethernet hub, where two other cables run the internet to my PC and my Xbox. Now it works fine on my pc, albeit maybe a little slow, sometimes cuts out randomly, but recently i was on my xbox and it randomly dissconnected, i tried swapping the cables, that didnt work, but if i plug my landline directly into my xbox it works fine. my ethernet hub is fairly new, last 2 months, and when it dissconnected i didnt bump anything it was just sitting on my table. i tried unplugging my hub and reconnecting it but it didnt work. Im nto sure if the warranty is void yet, but if it isnt should i return it?i want to open it up but theres a big " warranty void if broken" seal between the two peices of plastic.HELLLP
