Dvd Information

Question: Dvd rw drive says its a cd drive?

I bought a samsung super write master 22x speed. i go to "My Computer " and it says its a dvd drive but when i put a Blank dvd in it changes to cd drive ? Why is this happening. its not lettin me burn dvd's. it is set on master drive because when i set it on slave drive the PC wont start up even though power is running through it. It is the only disc drive i have set up
