Trying to find a disk recovery program I once owned?
There are a lot of hard disk recovery programs out there, but I'm trying to find one I once owned because it worked so well and wasn't too expensive. This program would start with a sector editor that you would point to the drive. Then you could tell it to search for a File Allocation Table and it would try to find one. If it did, it would show you a list of files and subdirectories, then you would tell it to go to each of those objects and it would show you what it found.It also had a mode that would bring up a virtual image of the entire disk directory, and let you copy the files very easily to another drive.

What is the hard disk recovery drive on my windows vista? and what makes the drive get full?

I am looking for a freeware disk recovery utility, specifically for recovering files from windows.?

a friend of my dad reformatted my pc and installed a new os in local disk C.then when i opened my local disk D...it says " The disk in drive D is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?" what happened?does it need to be formatted?there are very important files in there and i dont know how to recover them. easy 10 points for those who can help me another thingwhen i look at the properties of drive d it is a RAW file not NTFS.what is that?with 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free

My Raid Volume 0 has failed. i have the disk recovery set. Yet when i use it the com says it is unable to fix
When the screen turns black and says enter system recovery disk, i put it in and it seems to work. not soon after a message saying " there seems to be a problem with RAID volume 0, would you like to fix" ? I click yes but after about 2 minutes it says " problem could not be fixed, system is restarting" . i tryed again and again so far nothing has worked. HELP

I use Ubuntu Linux 10.04, and I accidentally deleted my Windows XP partitions using GPartition on Ubuntu. I see many disk partition recovery utilities on the net, but none of them work on Linux. Can anyone help?

How do I do a hard-disk recovery for Windows XP on an eMachine T3120 (No CD drive)?
I need to do a full system recovery. My CD drive got damaged months ago. The rest of the computer has been working fine, until...About 3 days ago it seems I got attacked by some kind of virus trojan worm. All attempts at removal and repair have failed. System Restore has NO restore points available. Seems like the only option left is a full recovery, but as I cannot use the CD drive, this is a problem. My eMachine T3120 has PC Angel with the backup D drive, but I don't know exactly how to use it. I hit F11 for system recovery, but then I didn't know what to choose the complete wipe or the backup option. I have already uploaded everything I care about onto web storage, so I don't care too much if I lose stuff. I just want to know which option do I pick? And the little side pictures on the recovery screen look like they're showing CDs, but maybe it's supposed to be a hard disk. Is it going to ask me for a CD? I have been at this thing for over 20 hours. I am exhausted and desperate. ANY help is good. Thank you all.

Many new computers come with disk to disk recovery feature. Users can recover the operating system by just pressing a button during boot time. However, custom built computers do not come with this type of feature.Is there any possible FREE solution to make disk to disk recovery for custom built computer? Pressing a button to run disk to disk recovery is not necessary, it can be other ways.What I mean is like this When we instruct our computer to do system recovery reinstall the operating system reformat the system partition, the computer just use the existing files disk image stored on another partition to do the recovery, no need to use CD DVD or any external devices.If we reinstall Windows from disc, then we need to reinstall all the hardware drivers and software. It is a hassle and need several hours.

How to hide files from disk recovery tools?
so I tried a few computer software programs like pc tools actually tried and it didn't work at all saying that they could do a Gutmann wipe on my computer disk making it harder to recover files, deciding to really test it, however after running a few software programs saying they could remove files, I've repetitively found past files on my computer's hard disk. is there any way to truly hide these files from disk recovery programs like norton and diskdoctors..etc?

Two weeks ago, on Friday the thirteenth, I fell into my school's pond by some catastrophic accident I wasn't pushed .To cut the long story short, all my belongings went into the water, including a relatively new less than one year old laptop. D When I took out my laptop's hard drive and connected it to another computer, all the data showed up inside and I could open and view documents.However, it stopped working after a few minutes and it hasn't been spinning ever since.My dad helped me to look around for solutions to recover my data, it seems that the professionals that do it would charge hundreds, even thousands for data recovery.Does anyone know of any 'home grown' method for me to get my hard drive working at least temporarily again?Any help would be greatly appreciated. WD - Hard disk recovery?
The WD external hard drive model no WD3200C035 stopped over the weekend, when I went to restart it, the blue light flicked for a second, but the drive did not start up, I tried again at a different socket but the same thing happend.

Erasing my HP, dont want to deal with disks...recovery...just brand new all over again?
My pc is old...and i just want everything off of it...i dont care to keep anything on it, i want the settings as if i just got it. Tried searching around the pc but i couldnt find what i needed..confusing... Whats the EASIEST way to erase my pc...with no programs...no nothing...just a simple few clicks would be nice...is that possible with out having to do the back up disks...isnt there something i could press like F2 or F10 or something b4 the windows start when i start up my pc to erase it??
