What backup software exists that can pick old files and put them on backup media?
And if backed up files get accessed it should restore those files from backup media disks or tapes . I guess it should be some kind of file system combination to work like that. Does anything like that exist from Network Appliance?

Is there any backup software that can auto backup on every boot?
I've seen some backup software that can auto backup every day, every month or every year but I haven't seen a software that can auto backup every time I switch on the computer. I need that software so that nobody can put his or her files on my computer because when computer is backuped, his or her files will be lost and disappeared from my computer and I will not be worry anymore of any files and application inserted into my computer without my notice.

Suitable backup software for me?
I need a recommendation for FREE backup software that is fast, easy, and reliable I currently use Cobian but its compression is way too slow for my taste even for a USB copy job. Note, that I am the type of user who needs frequently like weekly or even daily up to date backups ready....Are there any faster programs with lots of compression types to choose from? What's your favorite?I use WINDOWS XP, and I don't intend on getting LINUX or anything else, thanks.Also the folders files in question are very large at over 2GB.

i add pictures to my laptop once a week. is there a good program that can automatically back them up to an external drive without any input from me? i would like it to recognize when i add a whole folder to my c drive and start backing it up to the external drive.i forgot to mention im using Vista home.

I'm looking for some good, easy to use, free or inexpensive backup software.If at all possible, I would prefer it to be supported, so if I get into trouble I can ask questions. I have a free standing 250GB hard disk that I want to use to back up my wife's laptop data.There wasn't any software included with the drive but I am told that you can get software to install on your computer that will organise and backup the data on a regular basis, provided it's plugged in of course .It is very important that it is easy to use and without too much prompting, otherwise she, the wife that is , will give up and I'll end up doing it all the while, and I'm not that brilliant either .On my own computer, I have a Seagate drive attached that takes a backup once a week at the same time, or if not plugged in, it will take a backup as soon as it is connected. It does all this through Seagate's software which was provided with the drive, but I doubt if it will work with the other drive, so I'm not going to try.Any suggestions?
