Question: How much should a complete general accounting software cost?

With Payroll subscription around $350-$400 Without Payroll subscription, around $150-$200 (Canadian prices.. so less for american.. lol)

The range is so great as to render the answer meaningless. It depends on how large a company you're using it for, which modules you need and how much support you want to buy. Anywhere from $150 to the high 6 figures, and 5 figures a year after that for maintenance.

Colanth is correct. We compared various softwares and found ACCPAC ($20,000) very close to Peachtree ($300). But we went with ACCPAC only because it had one feature (ability to prevent posting in prior periods by mistake) that Peachtree didn't offer.
